Cutting Edge Infertility Technology

The laboratories of A Woman's Center For Reproductive Medicine are equipped with cutting-edge equipment for the latest in IVF, embryo culture and transfer techniques. Low oxygen concentration embryo incubators are utilized for the best culture conditions. The latest microscopes and oil-less microinjection systems provide for superior results with Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). An advanced quality air purification system ensures the proper sterile environment for embryo culture for optimum success rates, along with sequential culturing systems for improved embryo development to the blastocyst stage when appropriate. Having immediate access to the latest and most advanced technologies allows our doctors and nurses to provide each couple the greatest chance for success.

Interestingly, fertility treatment costs are minimized when the appropriate technologies are applied. Our fertility specialists always choose therapy most likely to result in pregnancy while considering factors such as cost and personal circumstances. A good example of technology that improves cost effectiveness is ICSI.

Suppose a couple is dealing with moderate to severe male infertility. Before ICSI, they had little choice except to use a sperm donor or undergo IVF with a lower chance of success. When ICSI is employed, the chance of fertilization, and thus IVF success is greatly increased meaning that on average pregnancy will probably require less IVF treatment cycles. The overall cost to produce a much wanted pregnancy will be dramatically less even after considering the cost of the ICSI procedure.

Also, it is clear that total fertility treatment cost is minimized when a fertility specialist is seen early in treatment. In most cases, IVF will not be required but when it is we offset IVF treatment cost by offering an IVF treatment refund.

Our fertility specialists offer many advanced reproductive therapies in addition to ICSI. For example, preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is offered to patients at risk for transmitting certain genetic diseases or to screen for broken or abnormal chromosomes. Dr. Gibbons, while a the Jones Institute, performed pioneering research into the use of PGD in the treatment of infertility. His work is partly responsible for the wide clinical application of PGD today. Our Louisiana fertility clinic makes these groundbreaking therapies available to couples in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and the surrounding regions.

We also have a successful donor egg program based in Baton Rouge, LA. Sometimes a woman cannot use her own eggs in an IVF cycle due to advanced age, ovarian failure, or other conditions. Donor egg success rates are high because the match the age of the egg donor. For example, if the eggs from a 22 year old are used in an IVF cycle with a 40 year old, the success rates equal the 22 year old age group.
